Psalm 23 Revisited
Friday, September 18, 2009 at 12:00AM Have you ever read a part of Scripture that you are very familiar with only to have it appear brand new?
That is exactly what happened to me as I read Psalm 23 in the New Living Translation.
You can read it with me…
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
forever.
Did you let the words really sink in?
Let’s reread some of them again…
The Lord is my shepherd, I HAVE ALL I NEED.
I will not be afraid, FOR YOU ARE CLOSE BESIDE ME.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil. MY CUP OVERFLOWS WITH BLESSINGS.
Surely YOUR GOODNESS AND UNFAILING LOVE WILL PURSUE ME ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE.
Today, no matter what comes my way, I am choosing to stand on these truths: I have all I need. God is always beside me. My life is filled with blessings. And God will pursue me for the rest of my life by showering His goodness and unfailing love on me, even when I don't deserve it.
Now that's some restful realizations!
