Off to She Speaks

Today I am heading to Charlotte, North Carolina to attend the annual She Speaks Conference. Since attending for the first time in 2007, I look forward to this yearly get-a-way.

This year, I will join almost six hundred other women for a weekend focused on seeking God, especially in regards to speaking, writing, leading, and blogging. I cannot begin to tell you how much I learn each year from the wonderful speakers at Proverbs 31 Ministries. I am even more amazed at how much I learn from God. She Speaks not only provides teaching opportunities, it provides and encourages time alone with the greatest Speaker and Teacher, Jesus. He is always faithful to provide guidance and instruction, if only we will listen.

As part of the conference, I will be giving two small presentations for evaluation purposes. I am planning to teach on Psalm 32:8.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye” (NKJV).

This verse is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. God’s words of reassurance to David also can speak to us, especially if we review the meaning of the key words in the verse.

Instruct

: to provide or furnish with knowledge, esp. by a systematic method

: to furnish with orders or directions

Isn’t this exactly what God provides as we daily seek His face in His Word? Knowledge and direction.

Teach

: to impart knowledge or skill

: to condition to a certain action or frame of mind

: to cause to learn by example or experience

Through His Word and the Holy Spirit, Jesus teaches us by example how to treat others, how to perceive the world, and how to interpret our experiences, in the light of what is good.

Guide

: to assist (a person) to travel through, or reach a destination in an unfamiliar area, as by accompanying or giving directions to the person

: to accompany to show points of interest and to explain their meaning or significance

: to supply with advice or counsel

God promises to guide us as we travel through this life, always providing counsel and accompanying us wherever we go. This truth comforts me, especially when my feelings tell me otherwise.

I hope you find the same comfort today as you reflect on this verse.

And if you have a spare minute, I would greatly appreciate your prayers for safe travel and listening ears. I'm sure Hubby could use them too, as he has a "boys only" weekend with BigGuy and Bird.

Blessings!
